Anticipating the growing need for “green thinkers,” Jurlique, the Australian biodynamic beauty skin care company, in cooperation with Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS), awarded 12 scholarships for students in eco and green studies to attend the recent LOHAS conference in Boulder, CO. The Jurlique LOHAS Scholarship is meant to educate students and ultimately the next generation of green thinkers about ways to reduce environmental footprints in all facets of life. The recipients of this year’s scholarship included students from a variety of backgrounds, from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management to Yale School of Divinity, each with a strong commitment toward promoting sustainability. Conference speakers included the president of the Discovery Channel and Graham Hill of Treehugger.com, as well as executives from Wal-Mart, Patagonia and Whole Foods. Such a coalition of diverse for-profit corporations and non-profit organizations means that “lasting generational change has arrived,” said Eli Halliwell, CEO and president of Jurlique.
